Opening a new business, in a new location, is always a risk but two entrepreneurs in Winchcombe couldn’t be happier with the way their interiors and furniture shop is going.
Jonathan Sellwood and Jonathan Parkin spent more than six months doing up a shuttered pub, The Sun Inn - in North Street, before opening their shop Barnbury.
Mr Sellwood said: “We didn’t quite gut it, but it was a major renovation.
“We started work in January so it took us six months, and we opened a couple of weeks ago.”
And he said, trading so far is going really well: “We’ve had an amazing reaction from people here.
“We didn’t expect it to be quite so good.
“People have been really complimentary and said they really like the shop and what we’re selling. It’s been brilliant.”
The two Jonathans had previously run Hotel 32 in Cheltenham until last year before starting their venture in Winchcombe, selling exclusive homewares and custom-made furniture.
Mr Sellwood said: “Our sales have been good so far. We sell leather accessories from Italy that are selling well and also curly brass candlestands are popular.
